We do not sell the one thing DriftLab charges $35 for, which is a human review of your build. We have no credential to stand behind that and we are not going to invent one - we publish our sources instead, on every page, so you can check the reasoning yourself.
Questions
Is the free tier a trial?
No. The full plan is free forever, including every part, every price and the share page. We earn a commission when you buy some parts through our links, which is what funds it. Paywalling the plan would cost us more in commission than it would make in subscriptions, so it is not a position we have to be talked out of.
What do I actually get for $5?
The things that only matter once you are running a build over a season: unlimited saved builds, price alerts on your own parts, a spend log so planned-versus-actual is visible per phase, per-event consumables tracking, a printable build sheet and pre-event checklist, and private builds. If you are planning one car once, you do not need any of it.
Does the trial need a card?
No. Fourteen days, no card, and it ends by itself.
Can I cancel?
Any time, from the billing page, which opens the Stripe customer portal. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for, then the account drops to Free - your builds are not deleted, they just stop being editable past the two-build Free limit. See the refund policy for the money side.
Why is annual two months free rather than a bigger discount?
Because it is the honest size of the saving to us. One card transaction a year instead of twelve is a real cost difference, and lower churn is worth something. A 50% annual discount would mean the monthly price was wrong.
Do you take money for parts placement?
No. Some links earn a commission and that is disclosed on every page that has one, but no manufacturer or retailer can pay to be recommended, and the budget pick stays labelled as the budget pick even when the expensive one pays more.
