Affiliate disclosure
The money, in plain terms, including the parts of it that are awkward.
Last updated 2026-10-07.
What happens when you click a parts link
Some of the retailer links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something after clicking one, the retailer may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra - the price is the same as going direct.
Links that earn us a commission are marked `rel="sponsored"` in the page's HTML, which is how search engines are told about them. Links that do not are marked `rel="nofollow"`.
What we hold ourselves to
1. Nobody can buy placement. No manufacturer, brand or retailer can pay to be recommended, to be listed higher, or to be the default pick. We have never been paid for placement and we will not be.
2. Parts with no affiliate programme are still in the catalogue. With a plain link, or no link at all. A welded differential at a local shop earns us nothing and it is still the recommended pick at the seat-time goal, because it is the right answer. A plan with holes where the commission is missing would be worthless.
3. The budget pick stays labelled the budget pick. Even when the expensive one would pay more. Every part carries honest pros and cons, and the recommended pick is chosen by goal level, not by commission rate.
4. We tell you where the money is. Every page with affiliate links says so, and this page lists which programmes we are actually in.
Which programmes we are in right now
None of them, yet. As of 2026-10-07 we have not been approved for a single affiliate programme, so every outbound link on this site is currently a plain, unmonetised link. The ones we have applied to or intend to apply to are: Amazon Associates, eBay Partner Network, Summit Racing, JEGS, Tire Rack, and direct programmes with the drift specialists - Enjuku Racing, Drift HQ, GKTech, Parts Shop Max, Sikky, Z1 Motorsports, Phase 2 Motortrend, Driftworks and DriftShop.
When a programme is approved, this page is updated and the links for that retailer start carrying a tracking parameter. Until then they do not, and the code will not add one - the affiliate parameter is only appended when a programme is explicitly marked approved in the catalogue.
The conflict of interest, stated out loud
We make more money if you buy more parts. The build order we publish tells you to buy fewer parts, later, starting with the cheapest phase - and phase 0 is mostly fluids and labour, which earns us almost nothing. That tension is real. The way we deal with it is to write down the reasoning and the sources for every recommendation, so you can check whether the advice makes sense independently of who is paying us. If you ever find a recommendation that only makes sense commercially, tell us and we will fix it in public.
Subscriptions
Pro and Shop subscriptions are the other revenue source, and they are deliberately not a paywall on the plan. See pricing.
Required disclosure
This disclosure is made in line with the US Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements and testimonials, and with the Amazon Associates and eBay Partner Network operating agreements should we be accepted into them. As an Amazon Associate we would earn from qualifying purchases.
